I couldn't resist adding these, my favourite being the dressing table 1940's style, the last is a reminder that if toilet paper gets any more expensive there is an age old alternative!
Your photos are lovely (found your blog via Elizabeth's) - the toilet paper reminds me of my mother telling me when she lived in a house in the early 70's when she still had an outdoor loo, and my brother, being small and not as brave as he thought he was not liking going to the loo on his own at night, but then when someone stood with their back turned waiting for him to finish, he would be sitting on the loo with his holsters and toy guns, "shooting at things". I think it's fascinating how resourceful people used to be and that there's a lot we can learn. Best wishes with the blog x
Welcome to the world of blogging! I am so glad that I have found your blog (also via Elizabeth's) and look forward to reading about your life. Best wishes.
Wow! Just in from work and find I have comments! How lovely you have found me already, thank you Claire, Lindsey and to Elizabeth for sending in my direction. Isn't blogging great!
Claire I am old enough to remember outside loos and hated them, they seemed to be full of spiders yuk!
I do sometimes wonder how my grandmother coped with no plumbing, electric or gas! Wish she was still here to ask!
Our outside loo was full of spiders - how I ever managed to use it is a mystery as I'm really scared of them. It wasn't until the late 1980s that my parents finally had an extension built and discovered the luxury of a bathroom and inside loo. Up until then the old tin bath was still in use!
There's a museum not far from us called The Land of Lost Content. An absolutely fascinating place. I could easily spend a whole day there.
